The Fluence Compatibility Guide

Introduction

Fluence is an industry leader in horticultural lighting, with a lighting portfolio spanning indoor cultivation, vertical farming, greenhouse lighting, and greenhouse interlighting. If you are looking for a Fluence dimmer, this guide covers everything you need to schedule and dim any Fluence light with GrowFlux controls.

Are Fluence lights dimmable?

All Fluence lights are dimmable with 0-10V controls, including the SPYDR, SYPYDR FANG, VYPR, RAZR, RAY, and RAPTR series. All dimmable Fluence lights are compatible with GrowFlux controls.

Do Fluence lights dim to off?

All Fluence lights feature dim to off, which allows the LED driver to completely power down the light through the 0-10V interface. This eliminates the need for timers, relays, contactor panels, and switched circuits on the mains AC wiring, potentially saving a lot of money on installation. The GrowFlux Universal Dimmer includes enhanced support for dim to off when connected to many LED drivers, ensuring growers that lights are reliably turning off.

How to connect Fluence lights to the GrowFlux Universal Dimmer

There are two common types of dimming connectors on Fluence lights, and GrowFlux offers plug and play cables to support all models of Fluence lights.

The 3-pin M16 plastic push lock connector shipped on many Fluence lights over the last few years. If the dimming connector on your Fluence light is all plastic, order the GFX-DIMA-FB adapter cable to connect the GrowFlux Universal Dimmer to your Fluence light.

More recently, Fluence has been shipping lights with a 3-pin M12 size threaded connector with a metal lock nut. If the dimming connector on your Fluence light is metal with visible threads, order the GFX-DIMA-FBM12 adapter cable to connect the GrowFlux Universal Dimmer to your Fluence light.

The SPYDR FANG ships with an integrated dimmer dial installed (also known as a potentiometer); this dial can be removed to expose the driver's dimming connector. Use the GFX-DIMA-FBM12 adapter cable to connect the GrowFlux Universal Dimmer to your Fluence SPYDR FANG light.

How many Fluence lights can I connect to a grow light controller?

Up to 50 Fluence lights can be connected to one GrowFlux Universal Dimmer; connecting more than this number of lights may result in unpredictable behavior and may void your warranty. The dimming signal can be daisy chained to multiple lights with tees and extension cables.

If you are retrofitting GrowFlux controls onto first generation SPYDR models, a maximum of 10 lights can be connected to the Universal Dimmer. Certain models of early SPYDR lights have a high current draw through the 0-10V dimming interface.
